Ranchi University among 50 universities in country
RANCHI: Ranchi University not just scored a place in the top 50 universities in India but it also managed to jump seven steps ahead and reached the 36th position. The survey is conducted by India Today every year. The varsity was on the 46th rank in 2011.
The university also scored the third position in the top five growing universities in India and second position in the top five gainers. RU vice-chancellor LN Bhagat was excited about the achievement. "It is the efforts of former vice-chancellor AA Khan that we managed to reach this position.
The credit also goes to the team work of university employees. We will try harder to move ahead in the coming years," he said.
Khan, a former vice-chancellor, said the university can reach a much higher position. He said, "RU can find a place in the top 20 list by putting a little more effort and filling up the vacant positions in the university."
The survey was conducted by collecting the data of 167 universities of the country. The ranks were given on the basis of reputation, quality of academic input, student care, job prospects, faculty, research publication, innovation and governance and admissions.
Pro-VC V P Sharan said, "Given the speed that we are working at and the new plans we are implementing I am sure that we will be on a higher position in the survey next year."
