Kawar Adivasi has recently been inducted included in the list of schedule tribes in serial no. 31 as a new entry according to the schedule castes and tribes orders (Amendment) Act 2002, published in the Gazette of India part-II, section-I, on 8th January 2003, New Delhi by the ministry of Law and Justice. They inherit from the border areas of Jharkhand in the districts of Palamu, Gumla and Sindega. Their mother tongue is "Sadri".

The Kawar are very religious tribe, they follow Sarna religion and Singhonga is worshipped as a great almighty of God. They also believe in naturalism and worship natural objects like sun, river, mountain, tree, animal, birds, plants and bushes.

The Kawar village are situated at plain areas. Houses are erect with bamboo, and sal saplins, tied with grass ropes and thatched with straw.

To control the society, traditional village panchayat is organised and Kawar tribe themselves organised it.
